What is Live and HTML DominoPDF Loggin?

DominoPDF supports logging by adding the LogFile= setting to the DoPDF() method options.

For example;

Call DoPDF(sURL, sPDF, "LogFile=c:\domlog.txt")

By default the log file is generated at the end of the PDF creation process. However, in some circumstances where errors are occuring it may be needed to update the log file as each even occurs.

By adding LogLive=True to the options the log file will be updated after each event.

For example;

Call DoPDF(sURL, sPDF, "LogFile=c:\domlog.txt;LogLive=True")

When LogLive=True is added there is more disk activity as the log file is written to more often.

When converting HTML content to PDF, DominoPDF can also add the actual HTML source to the log file by adding LogHTML=True to the options.

For example;

Call DoPDF(sURL, sPDF, "LogFile=c:\domlog.txt;LogHTML=True")

The log file will then include the original HTM code, making debugging and analysis easier.

What platform does DominoPDF work on?

DominoPDF supports all Windows 32-Bit and Windows 64-Bit operating systems.

If your Domino installation is running on another operating system (such as Solaris, Linux etc.) you can place a Windows machine in the same domain for DominoPDF usage.

As DominoPDF simply operates over HTTP you can place DominoPDF on a Windows server and access HTML content via HTTP on any other machine or operating system.

The benefits of using Domino on the Windows PC in your environment is the Linux Domino server can run the DominoPDF agent on the Windows Domino server. They can communicate and create/route the PDF accordingly.

DominoPDF will attempt to load HTML source via HTTP so as long as your Windows PC has access to your Domino servers on the Linux machines via HTTP you can convert.

Where Should OpenOffice Be Installed?

OpenOffice should be installed on the same machine where the DominoPDF software is being implemented.

Therefore, if DominoPDF is being used server-side OpenOffice should be installed on the Domino Server.

If DominoPDF is being used client-side OpenOffice should be installed on the client machine or be accessible from the client in a shared installation.

Wingdings and Bullets

As WingDings is not a standard PDF font the rectangle codes do not tally up when converting from HTML to PDF. The workaround is to use another font for the bullet character.

In PDF text is displayed in a left low corner not from a left up corner as per Windows displays. Therefore the different sized characters in a single sentence throws out alignment. The workaround is to use a common font size in the sentence.
